Where To Listen To Your Favorite Music For Free

Limewire and all other file-sharing software is not actually illegal. It is called a “file sharing” software so you can share files - just not ones with copyright on them. E.g. you can listen to a song your friend might have put on the file sharing software as a little joke - but you can’t download one of Eminem’s songs. I will show you why it not only can affect yourself, but how it affects others too.

Nothing in life is perfect. When you want to do something there will always be something in your way. In this case when you are trying to download music it is not only illegal, but you could face much more severe consequences than a £1000 fine if caught.

As you may already know, the world is crawling with hackers who try and ruin your computer for fun or as a “business”. A business? Yes, they can exploit your account and blackmail you. They do this via the following way:

If you wanted to download your favourite music, say a song by Eminem, you might go onto Limewire to download it. So what these hackers can do is infect all these music files with spyware (a bug that hackers send out to spy on your computer) and trace your IP address (computer’s identification) back to their own system. From here they can easily exploit your bank accounts, crash your systems and if you own your own website, corrupt your server. They could then email/phone you asking for a hefty sum of money ( in the hundreds of thousands) and blackmail you by demanding a ransom and then they say they’ll stop hacking into your account. For them it is a win - win situation. All this could be caused by downloading just one song. Crazy when you think about it.

Pornographers on the internet do the same thing. They promote their websites though and are not too interested in the account exploitation. However, if they get hold of your IP address, they could flood your desktop with pop-ups and eventually causing your computer to crash to a point that it can’t be fixed.

These are the two MAIN ways in that your computer could be affected by illegal downloading. I think you would have learned by now the consequences that affect you. However there is one more consequence that could make your favourite singer to go out of business.

Imagine that you download a smash hit new single from Eminem of Limewire. He loses about $4/£2 profit. What is £2, it is a very nominal amount of money, isn’t it? However, because the song is so popular, 1 million people download the same song for free. This means that Eminem would lose out on about $4 million or £2 million. If this kept happening, he would become broke, and you would be able to hear any of his new music ever again.

So, there is a way to listen to music for free, WITHOUT the financial consequences. The two main ways are:

1. If you have BT Yahoo Broadband, you can listen to your favourite songs of Yahoo Music.
2. You can go to the fansite of that artist and usually they have 3 of his/her main hits on the website that you can listen to for free.
3. Sometimes you see those annoying popups asking you to pick a ringtone of your choice for free to put on your phone. Well actually, it is FREE. They will send you that ringtone/ real sound for free if you have a phone and give them your mobile number.

This is not illegal AND it is free.

What Type Of Music Helps You To Relax

As mentioned before, music can release stress. Some may ask what type of music that helps in relaxation. Although there are music CD that so call can help to relax, but you don’t have to stick to music that is designed specifically as relaxation music. As mentioned, I feel comfortable and relaxing when listening to my favourite artist sings. If you feel more comfortable with pop songs then classical music, it is perfectly alright, it need not be only classical music that can help to relax as many people might think.

To many peoples, it is unlikely that heavy metal can calm one down but surprisingly there are still peoples who are responded positively to heavy metal. Conversely, the relaxation music you use should be composed in a way that makes it easy to listen to and moderately upbeat. It shouldn’t just be background music; it should also catch your attention and the focus of your mind.

There is no specific requirement for a location to enjoy relaxing music. However, you will feel more comfortable physiologically if you are at your own premises, in a darkened room, with some aroma from the burning of therapy oil. Make sure the music volume is not too loud; the sound level should be just nice to overwhelm the external noise. In this respect, a headphone can be very useful. Most importantly, you have to feel comfortable.

But one must bear in mind that relaxation is not something that comes naturally to many of us. Pressure in life means that we are robotically finish our office work and go home, then start to worry about tomorrow. This causes anxiety and hence lack of sleep in many cases. These are unlikely to be cured by occasionally listening to just a few minutes of music. Relaxation music has the greatest effect when you listen to it for at least 30 minutes each session.

Listening To Today’s Music, To Make Your Own Music Better

If you listen to today’s music on the radio, you will hear a wide variety of songs and beats. You even nowadays hear people singing over hip hop beats, and people rapping over r&b beats! The two genres are blending a lot in today’s music. One of the mistakes that many underground rap artists make is, they are so concerned about being what they call “real” as in being gangsta or hard.

It seems like they are more concerned about being “real” then they are about selling records and making money. So they use only beats that are hard and “gangsta” sounding. They talk about shooting and killing over these hard rap beats. It’s ok for them to do this if this is what they want, but every song on the album can’t be that way if they want to be a successful multi-platinum selling artist. If you want to get your music on the radio, and on BET or MTV, you have to have at least a few singles, that are more commercial.

A lot of artists don’t do this, and they miss out on a whole entire market of possible customers! The goal is to capture the attention of these people through mass media such as the radio and tv, so that they will purchase the album. Once they buy the album, they will then have access to the rest of your different styles.

Keep This in Mind:

People in the streets will burn your CD! Listeners from the Radio and T.V. will buy your CD!
Which one do you think will get you to Platinum Status Faster?
My artists are going to sell 200,000+ CD’s this year! How about you?

So the point is, if your goal is to capture as many sells as you can, then you have to make music that everybody can listen to. You can’t make music only for the streets. You have to make it for the streets, the club, the radio/tv, and for the car. That way, you can receive sells and money from all of those different markets, instead of just from the streets. Today’s hit music has one thing in common: No matter how stupid it may sound, it is catchy. Don’t believe me? Listen to Laffy Taffy! It may get horrible ratings from a lot of Hip-Hop Heads, but the girls love it, and it sticks with you. Think about it: How many times have you talked about it with someone since the song came out? How many times have you listened to it when it came on the radio just to see how stupid it was?

Changing The Way We Listen To Music With The MP3 Music Player

Not so very long ago most of us who are old enough to remember probably had a collection of vinyl albums that reflected our wide taste in music. Such technology was all we knew and, with the help of a record player, we could enjoy our songs without having to wait for them to come on the radio. Today, technology is so different that it barely resembles its former self. Music lovers of today carry around portable devices that store all of their favorite songs in a piece of equipment that is barely larger than our thumbs. The MP3 music player technology initially appeared in the mid-1980s but we would not see the player in its present state until the late 1990s – 1999 to be exact. But when it made its appearance it would change the world of music forever.

The MP3 music player utilizes media formatting technology to convert existing audio files to the MP3 format. The MP3 format consists of compressed audio files; audio that has been compressed into very small files that can fit into the MP3 music player. And it achieves this compression without sacrificing the audio’s sound quality. In some instances, depending on capacity of the particular MP3 music player, users can fit thousands of songs within its confines. Better still, because of its size the MP3 music player is a portable unit that can fit in handbags and coat pockets. Users have access to their favorite songs no matter where they are and what they are doing. And as their taste in music changes or expands they simply add additional songs to their MP3 music player collection.

The MP3 music player is able to capture audio files through the use of the computer. The most popular variation of the MP3 music player – the iPod – made linking to the computer simple and convenient for users. So much so that most MP3 music players that are sold today are done so because of their compatibility to Apple software – the company that manufacturers iPod.

On the computer, users can either upload their favorite CDs that can then be downloaded onto the MP3 music player; or they can purchase songs online and then download them to the unit. Apple’s iTunes is the most commonly used musical resource for purchasing and downloading songs.

But aside from the convenience in downloading, the MP3 music player is universally revered for its portability. It can be plugged into your vehicle and played through your car’s audio system, plugged into headphones and played while you exercise, or plugged into portable speakers and played throughout your home. In any case, the MP3 music player is the most comprehensive piece of equipment available on the market today to play music.

I’m Making a List and Checking It Twice - My Favorite Songs

In the movie High Fidelity, John Cusack says, “Which came first - the music or the misery? Do I listen to pop music because I am miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?” Personally, I like pop music and all kinds of music. I really enjoy listening to music with friends. I’m not miserable at all.

Some of my friends like pop music. Some don’t. Some like country-western music. Some hate it. Some like classic rock. Some don’t. Personally, I appreciate all kinds of music. I may not like some writers or performers, but in almost all genres, there are songs I like.

In the mid-1980s, my wife and I joined forces with some friends and ran a small dance club, The Bedrock Lounge. For a while it was the place to go . . . until we had liquor board problems. We mostly played alternative rock and dance mixes. On the weekends we brought in live bands. Peg and I listened to a wide variety of music. I played records through the evening and into the early morning hours. She knit, read, and worked on her calligraphy. From pop to classics and show tunes, we’ll listen.

Every time someone mentions a musical I like, I generally say, “Oh, that’s one of my favorites.” I don’t really have a list of favorites, but perhaps I should write one down. Like Cusack, again, in High Fidelity says, “What really matters is what you like, not what you’re like.”

When I attend a musical with my wife, we always buy the cast album if possible. If you are familiar with particular Broadway musicals you can experience the entire play just by listening to the music. In your mind you can see the characters, hear their lines and watch their actions. In reality you are just listening to the songs performed on stage, but the human mind tends to fill in the blanks.

I love live performances. If I have seen a performer live AND have their music on a CD I’m in heaven. If I have CDs of a favorite singer and haven’t seen them live, I search on the internet for their concert dates. And sometimes I just fall into the right situation.

A friend attended a performance of Judy Collins at The Triple Door in Seattle, a small 300 seat dinner and music venue. I asked him to bring back a calendar of upcoming events. After the concert he just told me the website address of The Triple Door and I went there to look around. To my surprise I found out that Guy Clark was appearing just a week and a half later.

Peg and I once attended a Nanci Griffith concert and expected to see Guy Clark open for her. To our dismay, he didn’t make the trip. Since that time we have purchased several of his CDs, however. Two days later I was invited to join friends for a performance of Romeo and Juliette in Olympia. I declined, but mentioned that we were going to see Guy Clark just a few days later.

Guy Clark was wonderful. We had a decent dinner, enjoyed Rachel Harrington, his opening act, and saw him live with our Olympia friends. Good food, good music, and good friends. There was no misery to mix in with our listening pleasure.

House Music Is Fast Catching Music Lover’s Fancy

The kind of music that refers to a style of electronics dance music is known as house music. The earliest form of house music was played in the early to mid 1980’s. House music was developed by club DJs in the city of Chicago in United States. The influence of certain elements like the funk infused dance music style and disco style can be seen heavily in house music. The origin of the name house music is uncertain. Some suggest that the name is derived from the name of the club called The Warehouse. In the late 70’s and early 80’s warehouse parties that were held underground were very popular in the city of Chicago. Now one of these underground parties that were frequented mostly by Latino and black gay man was known as the warehouse.

The Dj at The Warehouse Frankie Knuckles mixed European synthpop music with mixed classic disco music, punk recordings, industrial music and the new wave music for people who were regulars there. Frequent clubbers referred this music as House Music and thus the name cam into being. But as mentioned earlier this is disputed. Musician Larry Heard claims that the term House Music comes from the fact that most of the Djs records the music at their house. Generally these Djs use drum machines and synthesizers to record the music at their house and hence the term House Music came in to being. Dj Chip E has another story to tell behind the popularity of the name House Music. Chip claims that the name came from the method of recording at a studio. However none of the claims are conclusive.

House music developed in houses, clubs and garages where mostly teenagers and local club goers used to assemble. The popularity of house music increased when the music was played in commercial radio. House music was much longer and conceptual then any other type of music and also this music was not meant for widespread commercial use. Basically house music combined the traditional elements of the musical instruments to give it a more humane touch. The house music scene is very popular worldwide even today as many musicians have made huge contributions towards this. Many new generation producers and Djs have emerged in the house music scene and their main purpose is to make House Music popular.

House Music is popular these days and this music can be seen to be catching up in Detroit, New York, Atlanta and some other cities in America where people of racially mixed origin reside. It is not only in USA that the music is catching up but also in several countries worldwide like Germany, Australia, Canada and Scandinavia. Recently the Mayor of Chicago proclaimed that 10th of August to be celebrated as house Unity Day in the city. The craze for House Music is one the rise and this is evident worldwide.
